Alejandro Botubol (Cádiz, Spain, 1979) is a contemporary painter based between Madrid and Chicago. His practice explores the unstable relationship between image, memory and presence through oil painting. Drawing on fragments from art history, found imagery and personal experience, his works move between figuration and abstraction, using displacement, illusion, shadow and fragmentation to investigate the tension between what is visible and what remains absent.

Botubol received his BFA from the University of Seville and an MFA in Contemporary Art, Idea and Production. His international residencies include the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP), Residency Unlimited and Flux Factory in New York, as well as the Zhou B Art Center in Chicago. His work has been presented in galleries, institutions and art fairs in Europe and the United States, with recent exhibitions including «Instantes» at Pep Llabrés Contemporary, Mallorca (2026), «Tabula Rasa» at Brandt Gallery, Columbus (2025), and «New Horizons» at OH Art Foundation, Chicago (2024).
