Alejandro Botubol’s painting explores the unstable space between image and presence. Drawing on fragments from art history, found images and personal experience, his works use illusion, displacement and fragmentation to question how an image becomes physical, psychological and remembered. Figurative elements coexist with atmospheric fields, shadows and suspended forms, creating paintings in which recognition and disappearance, materiality and absence remain in continuous tension.
